Every year, the third Thursday in October is the annual "LIghts On Afterschool" day, an annual celebration of afterschool programming.
We will have a full update on the event and pictures in the next newsletter in November. However, I would like to post a series of "thank yous" to the people who made this year's event possible.
First, we would like to thank "you", the students, parents, and community members who make Lights On the great event it is.
We also thank the program staff and organizations who collaborated to offer great events and delicious food to all of our attendees. These outside organizations include City Year of Manchester, who teams with our staff to help run our activity tables and meet many of our attendees, and the Manchester Health Department which offered food, games, and activities outside during the event.
In addition, several other organizations provided food and refreshments for the event. The Beech Street PTG and McLaughlin's Transitional Special Needs Class provided the popcorn that was given to students and parents at the end of the event, while the Manchester School District's "School Food and Nutrition" department and Granite State Fruit provided apples as another healthy option.
A special thank you goes to Judi Provencher of "Creative Delites" for baking hundreds of delicious mini-cupcakes in honor of our tenth anniversary. These were a special treat for all of our attendees.
Finally, we would like to extend our gratitude to Beech Street School, which once again was a gracious host to us for Lights On Afterschool.
We're already looking forward to 2014!
