Expanded Academic Support

Sept. 2, 2022- The 21st Century Program is excited to begin offering FEV Tutor services to all students in grades 3 to 8 who attend the 21st Century Program! During our Academic Growth time, students will utilize FEV Tutor to work on important literacy and math skills they need to succeed in school. This incredible resource will help our students keep on track and build their confidence.

Summer Program Starts July 5!

June 14, 2022 - Program staff are excited to start summer programming on July 5. Please check our Summer Experience page for the latest information, including transportation and locations. A welcome packet will be distributed to students and is available online as well.

2022 Youth Surveys

May 9, 2022 - As required by the NHDOE and our Federal Funding, students are able to participate in an annual survey to help measure the effectiveness of our programs. These surveys are opt-in, and will begin next week. Permission slips will be distributed by Site Coordinators and are available here. Additionally, the contents of the survey are linked below. MSD Summer Experience 2022!

February 23, 2022 - The 21st Century Program team, in partnership with teachers and leaders across the district, is hard at work planning the MSD Summer Experience 2022! This four-week long program is designed to support student learning by bolstering school-year skills and helping to fight the dreaded Summer Learning Loss! Students will receive academic support from Manchester Certified Teachers during the morning portion of the program, while the afternoon is reserved for enrichment exploration, including STEAM, fitness, games and more! This 25-hour a week program is free of charge, and registration is open to all. As we anticipate great demand, enrollment will be prioritized based on need, working in partnership with schools to ensure that students who most need this support will be able to participate.

February 2022 - Manchester's 21st Century Program is hiring Site Coordinators for Bakersville, Beech Street, Gossler Park and Hillside! Our Site Coordinators are key personnel in leading and growing our out-of-school programs. Site Coordinators build relationships with school staff and the community, ensuring the 21st Century grant is implemented properly in their school, building programming and recruiting staff. Site Coordinators are a 30-hour a week position that works 200 days a year. They are eligible for health benefits. Apply today!

Enrichment Instructors Needed

The 21st Century Program has several openings available for part-time Enrichment Instructors at a variety of our elementary and middle school locations. The Enrichment Instructor plans and leads activities with students in the afterschool program, as well as providing assistance to teachers and staff in providing snack and ensuring a safe environment. Positions pay $15/hr and candidates must have a passion for working with students. Click here to apply today!

Gossler Park and Northwest

Due to staffing shortages, our programs at Gossler Park and Northwest will open on a delayed schedule, September 27. Program staff are working diligently to recruit and train new staff to work in our programs and to ensure that we can offer the highest quality academic support and enrichment to our students.

New Program Fees

September 1, 2021 - The 21st Century Program has updated and simplified program fees and registration process. Program fees are established on a sliding scale based on student Free & Reduced Lunch Status (Free, Reduced, and Full Pay).

Morning $0.95/day $0.60/day $0.25/day

Afternoon $2.75/day $1.75/day $0.75/day

Multiple family member discount: 2nd and 3rd child is ½ off.

Students who are registered in the 21st Century Program will receive an invoice from their Site Coordinator with fees owed, as calculated based on that information. Site Coordinators will have access to the Free & Reduced Lunch data collected by the District Food Services Program. In the event that a parent/guardian is unable to pay a program fee, the Site Coordinator will contact that parent/guardian and complete a Program Fee Modification Form and submit it to the Program Director. The District Homeless Liaison may also submit requests on behalf of parents/guardians. Students will not be denied access to the 21st Century Program due to inability to pay program fees.

Fall 2021 Update

The 21st Century Program is getting ready to reopen for the 2021-2022 school year! We have many important updates that we will be sharing over the coming week. Program will start on September 20, and for our three new locations (Jewett, Webster and Weston) we are tentatively scheduled to open on October 4.

In-Person Pilot Begins

The 21st Century Program is excited to begin a limited in person pilot program at Henry Wilson and McDonough Elementary Schools. We are starting this program with 4th grade and English Learners at Wilson and 3rd and 4th grade students at McDonough. We will have an enrollment limit of ten students per cohort to maintain a safe and fun learning environment. Click Here to read more.

Limited In-Person 21st Century Begins!

February 18, 2021 - The 21st Century Program is excited to begin a limited in person pilot program at Henry Wilson and McDonough Elementary Schools. We are starting this program with 4th grade and English Learners at Wilson and 3rd and 4th grade students at McDonough. We will have an enrollment limit of ten students per cohort to maintain a safe and fun learning environment. Students will be separated by school day groups and maintain social distancing and mask wearing throughout the program. As pandemic conditions continue to evolve the district and program will look at potential expansion of the program to additional grades. Programming will be paused if the school suspends in person instruction. Students will be able to participate in our remote program during those times. If your child is in an eligible grade, registration information will be sent by your child's teacher via email.

For those students who are currently learning from home, we are still accepting registrations for our remote program which operates Monday through Friday, 2:45pm to 5:15pm. Our remote program offers small group academic interventions, as well as fun activities that reinforce their school day learning. Session 2 - Open Enrollment!

Our Session 2 will be starting on November 30, 2020- as we continue in our remote program, we still host students who have been participating during our first session, and encourage parents to sign their students up for session 2 if they have not already participated this year. Students will continue to receive academic support from teachers and enjoy educational and fun games and activities with our staff all afternoon! Girls will also have the chance to sign up for our Girls at Work Yes YOU Can home classroom kits - contact your school 21st Century Site Coordinator for more information.

Lights On! Afterschool 2020

Join us for our annual Lights On event today, October 22, 2020! This years event will be held virtually and is a great opportunity for students, parents and families to join in on some of the great activities that take place in our program. Students have received Meet codes for the event starting at 4:30 and wrapping up at 5:30. We are also excited to have Mayor Joyce Craig join us for the celebration, and for Manchester City Hall to be lit up in blue and yellow in honor of this nationwide event.

Remote Session One Registration

We are excited to start our 21st Century Online Program registration for Session One!

Session One will run from September 28 to November 24 and include academic and enrichment activities for students remotely. Our staff and teachers have been hard at work creating great programming for our students and can't wait to start.

Capacity is limited, students we are unable to accommodate will be added to a waiting list.

July 31, 2020 - The 21st Century Program has been working closely with school district officials to create a plan for providing our students with programming during the 2020-2021 school year. Like all programs we are interested in providing the safest, highest-quality program for our students and staff. Please stay tuned for more information about important changes to our program. As a part of the Manchester School District we will continue to follow safety procedures established by the school system.

Summer Partners

2020 Summer Camp

This summer we launched our virtual summer camp in partnership with the Summer Learning Academy! We provided four weeks of virtual academic instruction, enrichment and fun.

Students created space stations (below) and owl trees during our 21st Century-led enrichment activities. (Left) Students even used Oreos to represent the phases of the moon!

Our partners Girls at Work provided students with incredible home Build Kits that let them experience the empowering Girls at Work program from home! Students built bird feeders, planters and a Wish Upon a Star box!

Students received books courtesy of the CLiF Foundation and kits with materials for crafts and activities from 21st Century!

The Manchester Community Music School provided movement and music activities to our students that kept them moving even while at home!
