Meet the Site Coordinator!

Hello my name is Jake Garland and I am the site coordinator for the McLaughlin 21st Century program. A little about myself I have 2 daughters ages 10 and 7 and they are the biggest joy in my life. I used to play a lot of sports growing up although injuries have slowed me down these days where I can’t play as much. I live to read, my favorite genre of books are Science fiction/fantasy with my favorite author being the late Anne McCaffery and her dragon riders of Pern series. I'm a big Geek at heart, some of my favorite movies are the Star Wars and Harry Potter series. I love working with kids, especially middle school age since they have a mind of their own. I am always available to answer questions or take suggestions on the type of activities we do during the afternoon as I firmly believe that the program runs better when the students have a say in what happens.
